Alicante is a beautiful spot in the area called the Costa Blanca on the east coast of Spain. Because of its famous beaches and perfect weather, Alicante always seems to attract thousands of tourists. Besides the sightseeing attractions in Alicante, there are countless other things to see along the Costa Blanca and even into the mainland of Spain. This makes the transport options into and out of Alicante to other areas, as well as in and around the city itself important information to have.

Air Travel

You can fly into Alicante via the Alicante Airport, one of the busiest airports in Spain. Twenty-seven airlines have service in and out of Alicante. Iberia and Spanar have frequent flights daily to and from Madrid and Barcelona, while airlines like Air Berlin, Easyjet, and Monarch Airlines connect to many cities in Western Europe.

Train Systems

Alicante Railway Station is the cityĆs central rail station. The station is a terminus, meaning all trains will reverse their route once here. The station provides the following services:

  1. 1. Local service includes routes in and around Alicante and the nearby suburbs.
  2. 2. Middle distance trains serve other towns such as Valencia, Cartagena, and Cuidad Real.
  3. 3. Long distance trains can take you to other major cities in Spain.

Ferries

Alicante has ferries that travel regularly to nearby Balearic Islands and to Algeria. The city has a large harbor that easily supports a ferry system.

Alicante Tram

Alicante has a tram network made up of 4 newer lines that connect with an older diesel service line. Some routes are underground while others are above ground. The underground lines stop at various locations around the city.

Some of these lines travel to some of the other cities on the Costa Blanca like Benidorm and Denia. They also stop at the tourist towns of Altea and Calpe.
